Vale Bill Simpson
It is with great regret that the Board of The Rugby Club advises members of the passing of Bill Simpson, a Rugby Life Member of The Rugby Club, on Friday 25 August 2017.
At 93 Bill was the longest living NSW Waratah, having made his debut for NSW at the age of 25 in the first interstate match played after World War II. Bill went on to coach the NSW Waratahs and become the founding president of the Warringah Rugby club. In recognition of his service to Rugby he was elected to Honorary Rugby Life Membership of the NSW Rugby Union.
Bill continued to contribute to the Rugby community until the end and we are sure he would have enjoyed Warringah’s Shute Shield victory last Saturday whilst viewing the match from his place of peace. Our thoughts and condolences are with Bill’s family and all that held him dear.
