The Rugby Club Foundation launches new brand ahead of new era
The Rugby Club Foundation has entered the 2018 Rugby season with a fresh new look, unveiling a new brand to members today and to the public on 29 June 2018. This new brand encapsulates the history and heritage of “The Rugby Club” and embraces its new role within the sport of Rugby.
Following the sale of its former premises in Rugby Place at Circular Quay and a unanimous resolution by its members in 2017, “The Rugby Club” (Rugby Club Limited) became The Rugby Club Foundation Limited and is now focused on pursuing its collective strategic vision of 'Sharing the Spirit of the Game' through supporting Rugby at a grassroots and non-professional level.
The new branding and an accompanying new digital marketing platform will fulfil a vital role in pursuing this strategic vision. More particularly, the direct marketing platform will enable The Rugby Club Foundation to communicate and share information with its members, its Rugby stakeholders and those Rugby entities seeking to access financial grants.
Throughout its history, “The Rugby Club” has played a significant role in spreading and strengthening the influence of the game around Australia.
The origins of “The Rugby Club” can be traced back to 1945, when its premises were occupied by the head office of the NSW Rugby Union and later the Australian Rugby Union (now known as Rugby Australia). It was also the venue where Wallaby touring squads were presented with their jerseys and their careers were celebrated.
It was also the site where representatives of the Australian and New Zealand Rugby Boards met and agreed to establish the Rugby World Cup and later the Super Rugby and Tri-Nations competitions.
The Rugby Club Foundation President Angus Bruxner has stated:
“Everyone associated with creating this new image of The Rugby Club Foundation is to be complimented for producing a wonderful representation of the proud history and heritage associated with “The Rugby Club”. This will ensure that the ethos, camaraderie and spirit on which “The Rugby Club” was originally based remains paramount in the hearts and minds of its members and Rugby in general as The Rugby Club Foundation pursues its new focus.
“Our new identity must unite the past, present and future objectives and attributes of “The Rugby Club” and this new brand accomplishes this particularly well.
“The primary objective of The Rugby Club Foundation is to encourage the sport of Rugby in New South Wales and elsewhere. However, to achieve this objective in a sustainable way, we must continue to maintain and enhance our existing strong membership base and provide opportunities and benefits to our members”.
“Our members recognise grassroots Rugby as being instrumental in developing players’ skill and love of the game and encapsulates junior and school level Rugby and Suburban, Country, Premiership Club, Women’s, Referees and Wheelchair Rugby”.
