Sydney Rugby Union Grand Finals

As proud sponsors of the Sydney Rugby Union Premiership Club Rugby competition, The Rugby Club Foundation was delighted to host so many members and their guests last Saturday at North Sydney Oval to soak up the very best which Club Rugby has to offer.

With members gaining complimentary access to the ground by showing their Rugby Club Foundation membership card, the football kicked off at 9:00 am with Warringah wining the first premiership of the day, the Henderson Cup for fourth grade. Northern Suburbs then followed by taking home the Henderson Shield for third grade.

As second grade kicked off The Rugby Club Foundation members gathered in the private room which had been provided to the Foundation within the Mollie Dive Stand and enjoyed a breathtaking view of the oval, some light refreshments and service by two dedicated bar staff.

The second grade Colin Caird Shield was won by Eastern Suburbs with Sydney University taking top honours by defeating Warringah in the first grade fixture and raising the Shute Shield for the first time since 2013.

Concord Oval hosted the Colts Grand Finals the following day with Eastern Suburbs earning the Bill Simpson Shield for Colts 3 and Randwick taking home the Shell Trophy and W. McMahon Memorial Shield for Colts 2 and Colts 1 respectively.

Seven Sydney Rugby Union premierships were therefore contested over the weekend with six different Clubs recording victories, a true sign of the health of the competition. The Rugby Club Foundation congratulates all premiership winners and thanks all participants for their contribution to the game we all love.
