Chairman's Report - 2021 Annual General Meeting

In its capacity as a not-for-profit entity, the Foundation has during the course of the financial year ended 30 June 2021 been actively pursuing the Primary Object by supporting most levels of grassroots Rugby in New South Wales, including grade, suburban, country, women’s and junior Rugby and Rugby referees.

Foundation Grants Program

In the 2020-2021 Financial year the Foundation provided over $450,000 in grants to grassroots Rugby programs. We are pleased to be in the position to continue to offer grants through this program, and are proud to now open the next round of applications for 2022.

NSWCHSSA Girl's Rugby 7s

The Rugby Club Foundation was proud to support the inaugural NSW Combined High Schools Sports Associations’ Girl's Rugby 7s program. The program provided exposure to Rugby 7s for secondary students in public schools across NSW and allowed the girls an opportunity to represent their school, region and state, as well as assisting their Rugby development.

Support for Referee Development

The Rugby Club Foundation was proud to support referee development across NSW through a number of grants in 2021. Referee coaching is vital to develop and retain referees. What, how and when the referee communicates is a key part of their skillset, and referee coaches need to hear this communication to best help the referee to improve.

Gosford Rugby Club

The Gosford Rugby Club decided to provide an opportunity (which was not currently available) for females to play Rugby in in the Gosford area. The Rugby Club Foundation supported their endeavour and is proud to report that Gosford Rugby Club went from having no standalone female teams in 2020, to having the most junior female players of any club in the junior competition.

NSW Country Championships 2021

Congratulations to all nine NSW Country Rugby Union Zones, their players, coaches, staff and volunteers as well as the referees for their contributions to this year’s championships. The Rugby Club Foundation is a long time supporter of NSW Country Rugby Union and was proud to Share the Spirit of the Game at this year’s Championship.
